New Version of RETScreen Software developed in collaboration with REEEP
The Government of Canada has officially launched the latest version of the RETScreen International Clean Energy Project Analysis Software. The RETScreen software, available free-of-charge to industry and the public, is a software tool developed to help decision makers assess the viability of clean energy options. RETScreen is now being used by more than 129, 000 people across the world and is quickly becoming the international standard for clean energy project analysis.

RETScreen is making a significant contribution to sustainable development in Canada and abroad by helping with the assessment of new clean energy technologies and projects. These initiatives not only improve air quality and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but can also save money.

RETScreen was developed by Natural Resources Canada’s CANMET Energy Technology Centre-Varennes (CETC-Varennes) in collaboration with several partners. The new version of the software includes a full array of financially viable clean power, heating and cooling technologies and energy efficiency measures. The new energy-efficient models can be used for residential, commercial and institutional buildings, and for industrial facilities and processes, dramatically expanding the scope of the decision-support tool.

The new version of RETScreen also includes the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) climate data for the entire planet making it possible for decision-makers around the world to have complete and accurate meteorological data to aid them in their assessment of possible projects. Another feature of the new version is improved accessibility. The software has been translated into 26 languages, representing about two-thirds of the world’s population.

The software can de downloaded free-of-charge from the RETScreen Website at: www.restscreen.net.
