REEEP-SA input into 16th Session of UN Commission on Sustainable Development
The sixteenth session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-16) convened for its fifth day on Friday, 9 May, 2008, at United Nations headquarters in New York.  Delegates continued their consideration of the thematic cluster for the 2008/2009 implementation cycle - agriculture, rural development, land, desertification, drought and Africa.

REEEP-SA was invited to participate and provide input into these discussions.  With the focus of this year’s CSD being on partnerships for sustainable development, the session aptly titled “Dialogue with Major Groups and Representatives of Partnerships Initiatives” convened on the afternoon of the 9th of May 2008 at 4:30pm to discuss the importance partnerships in the implementation of sustainable development.
The webcast archive of that session can be accessed at http://www.un.org/webcast/csd16/csd16-d.htm.  (scroll down to the above mentioned session).

Additionally, a summary account of the 9 May session is reflected in the Chairman’s summary – and is available on-line at http://www.un.org/esa/sustdev/csd/review.htm.
