Illuminating Africa
Carbon Community is excited to announce that its first shipment of 1,000 solar light sets is being shipped from China to Tanzania, Africa. As many Tanzanian villagers do not have access to electricity, they use kerosene lamps as light sources at night. This is not only financially costly but also environmentally, as burning kerosene causes carbon dioxide emissions.

Carbon Community is bringing renewable energy technology to Tanzania. Its business partner Barefoot Power has developed small solar panels that can be connected to energy efficient LED lights.

Replacing kerosene lamps with non-polluting technology generates carbon offsets. Purchasing carbon offsets from these projects gives Tanzanian families access to these products.

This technology gives families a clean, healthy and long-lasting light source at night. It also frees money that was spent on kerosene for other necessities like medicine and school supplies.

The smile on Monica’s face (below) says it all.

For more information about this initiative please visit Carbon Community’s website at www.carboncommunity.org.au to purchase clever and compassionate carbon offsets, which reduce your environmental impact by increasing the quality of life of Tanzanian villagers.
