REEEP International has integrated the Google search algorithm into Reegle (www.Reegle.info) which improved the search results of Reegle drastically. We believe that we now offer better results than Google itself on all clean energy issues, as we still use our pre-selected high quality sites as our pool of information and use the Google algorithm to provide the user with the best search results.

Sub-Saharan African EE Visionaries Honored in Washington

The EE Global Forum and Exposition in Washington DC was the setting for the honouring of several champions of energy efficiency from around the world. At the plenary luncheon on May 11th, four awards were given, in front of an audience of 500 stakeholders.

Final Draft National Strategy for Sustainable Development Released For Public Comment

On 14 May 2010 the Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) published the final draft of the NSSD in Government Gazette 33184 Notice Number 393 and made it available for public comment. The public comment period is 30 days from the date of publication. The DEA has been developing the NSSD since the beginning of 2009. The document can be downloaded from Polity.org.za at the link below.

Pre-DIREC Stakeholder Consultation

As part of DIREC 2010, REEEP and The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India is undertaking consultations with energy stakeholders around the world.  Our goal is to get input from regional decision makers – renewable energy companies, energy utilities, financial institutions, governments, regulators, and NGOs. The findings of the consultation will be synthesised into a report that will be published and disseminated at DIREC 2010.  We’d be grateful if you could help us by responding to the online questionnaire located at: http://www.reeep-sa.org/direc-questionnaire

SADC: Regional Energy Access Strategy and Action Plan

Improving energy access is a major goal of energy policy in all SADC Member States. Everyone in SADC has some degree of access to energy, but this is often restricted and inadequate. People aspire to use more energy and to do so in a way that involves high quality fuels which are readily available, are affordable and attractive enough for people to be willing to pay for them. Increasing access to such „superior‟ forms of energy on a reliable basis is a basic requirement both for sustaining the national level of economic development, for reducing poverty and allowing people to improve their standard of living.
